This was a fun photoshoot for my portfolio. My son had bought this pair of shoes with his own money and when they arrived I just had to take a photo before he wore them and got them dirty. I wanted to do something a bit more interesting than just take a photo of the shoes just sitting on a table with the laces tied.
Using fishing line I took a long while to tie up the laces and also to hold the shoes up off the shooting table. It took a lot of patience and many times having to retie the fishing line. I also used gaffer tape to help attached the line to the shoes as well as to the light stand used to attach from above.
After tieing the shoes up into position I placed lights around at different angles to make sure I had the desired effect.
Taking photos of products isn't always straight forward and sometimes requires some artistic direction. Since this was for my portfolio I had to take on that role but many times my clients have ideas and will bounce them off me to formulate what is exactly they're looking for.
